EU consultation on high‑risk AI guidelines: The European Commission has opened a targeted consultation on draft guidance to help organisations determine whether their AI systems qualify as “high‑risk” under the AI Act. The input will shape clearer, practical rules and examples—important for compliance and future deployment decisions.
Target audience
Anyone with an interest in the development, deployment, supervision or use of AI systems is invited to contribute. This includes AI providers and developers, organisations using AI systems, public authorities, researchers, civil society organisations, supervisory bodies and members of the public.
Background and objectives
The AI Act identifies 2 types of ‘high-risk' AI systems:
- AI systems embedded in products regulated under the Union's harmonised legislation on product safety
- AI systems that can significantly affect people's health, safety, or fundamental rights in specific use cases listed in the AI Act
The guidelines will help providers and deployers of AI systems assess whether their AI system is high-risk or not and what classification of high-risk their system would fall under.
